Cyclamen coum is a small, hardy cyclamen that flowers in late winter and early spring, often when little else is in bloom. It is one of the easiest cyclamen species to grow outdoors. Once established, it self-seeds gently and can form beautiful carpets of flowers and patterned leaves beneath shrubs and trees.
- Position: Partial shade to full shade.
- Soil: Well-drained, humus-rich soil.
- Ideal locations: Under deciduous trees, woodland gardens, rock gardens, or shaded borders.
- Hardiness: Fully hardy throughout Ireland.
Planting
- Plant tubers in late summer or autumn.
- Place them just below the soil surface with the flatter side uppermost.
- Space about 10–15 cm apart.
